Civil Engineering is a professional discipline that deals with the Design, Construction and maintenance of physical and natural built environment including works such as bridges, roads ,canals, dams and Buildings.
Civil Engineers deal with constructed facilities, including structures. Foundations, environment and transportation system, waterways, ports, irrigation, drainage, and water supply and treatment. The civil engineers’ vital role is to plan, design and supervise the construction of these facilities. Using the language of codes, working drawing , and specification, students in the civil engineering program will learn how to translate the innovative concepts of the engineer into functioning system and structures.
Civil engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields. Civil engineering focuses on the infrastructure of the world which include water works, Sewers, Dams, Power Plants, Transmission Towers/Lines, Railroads, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Industrial Plant Building, Irrigation Canals, River Navigation, Shipping Canals, Traffic Control, Mass Transit, Airport Runways, Terminals, Skyscrapers, etc. Among the important subdivisions of the field are construction engineering, Irrigation engineering, transportation engineering, soils and foundation engineering, geodetic engineering, hydraulic engineering.
